Thimphu – Phuentsholing highway open temporarily

The Road Surface Transport Authority (RSTA) will be lifting the Thimphu – Phuntsholing highway closure on Mondays and Tuesdays with effect from Monday, 27 October.

An ABTO announcement says: Please advice your drivers to be extra careful while travelling through the landslide areas and also to avoid travelling during the evening and night. The 4:00 PM closure at Gedu and Chukha is also lifted. Further, be informed that the road from Jumja to Kharbandi will be closed and the traffic will be diverted from Jumja to Pasakha / Kharbandi via Manitar road. However, the movement of traffic from Kharbandi towards Pasakha and beyond will remain closed everyday after 6:00 PM till further notice by the RSTA.
